Student Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Immigration Counseling Service has been dedicated to defending the rights of immigrants for 45 years. We are a group of diverse individuals committed to providing high-quality immigration advocacy and representation to more than 90 low-income immigrant communities throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. Our staff have extensive experience in immigrant and refugee communities (many being from immigrant families themselves), trauma-informed care, and are bilingual in English and Spanish. ICS encourages collaboration and is a supportive environment where our attorneys, staff, and volunteers constantly learn and grow.

ICS is interested in working with student volunteers and interns with an interest in or personal connection to immigration. Volunteers may work with our legal, operations, or communications teams depending on their specific interests. ICS’s student volunteers are at least 16 years old, though we welcome requests for informational interviews from teens and students of all ages.

Examples of Volunteer and Internship Opportunities:

  • Providing administrative support and gaining experience working with office equipment, systems, and file organization;

  • Supporting attorneys and paralegals by accessing and collecting legal records, contacting courthouses, and learning about immigration legal processes; and

  • Contributing to community outreach through social media content creation.

Reach out to ICS using our online contact form! Please confirm how many hours per week you’d like to volunteer, any areas of special interest, and your age.
